Blue Pearl - Norway

Blue Pearl Granite is an extremely hard and dense stone, commonly use as countertops, building exterior facades and It is also used in the jewelry industry. Its original name is Larvikite, is an igneous rock, specifically a variety of monzonite. Notable for the presence of thumbnail-sized crystals of feldspar with blue and grey reflexions giving it a metallic appearance. The name originates from the town of Larvik in Norway, where this type of igneous rock is found. Also known as Blue Pearl or Norwegian Moonstone. It came to the world's attention in the 1890s when a local geologist saw it glimmering in the moonlight. The blue iridescence in the feldspar crystals made the rock particularly attractive as an ornamental stone, and since the start of industrial scaled production in 1884, the use of larvikite has reached every corner of the global community.
